Here's Why You Need This for a Manual Swap

When Honda built your TSX as an automatic, there's no clutch pedal mount on the cowl. The firewall's not set up for it. You're doing a manual swap and you need somewhere solid to bolt that clutch pedal. Without a proper mount, the pedal's going to flex against the firewall and your engagement point's going to be inconsistent and mushy. Weld It or Bolt It

You've got options for how you install this. You can weld the brace to the cowl if you want maximum strength. That's the strongest way to do it but you're welding inside your car. Most people bolt it using rivet nuts or threaded inserts. Rivet nuts are easier - you drill the holes, install the rivet nuts, and bolt the brace down. Threaded inserts work too. Both are strong enough for a street car. If you're building something high-power or you just want it bulletproof, weld it. Either way you're getting a solid mount.

Template Shows You Where to Drill

The kit comes with a steel template. You bolt the template to the brake booster inside the car. The template shows you exactly where to drill the holes for the clutch pedal mount. That way you're not guessing where the holes go or drilling in the wrong spot. You locate it with the template, mark your holes, pull the template, drill. Then you install the brace and mount your clutch pedal. It's straightforward but you've got to pull the dash to get access to the brake booster and cowl area.

You're Pulling the Dash

Installing this brace requires removing the dashboard. That's not a quick job. You're looking at a few hours to get the dash out, install the brace, and button everything back up. It's not difficult but it's tedious. If you're already doing the manual swap and you've got the dash out for the clutch master cylinder install, do the pedal brace at the same time. Don't skip it and then have to pull the dash again later because your clutch pedal feels like garbage. We use these on our own manual swap builds because they're the right way to mount a clutch pedal. Your engagement point needs to be solid and consistent. Without the brace, it's not.

Note: Dashboard removal is required to install this brace. Plan for a few hours of work. The template bolts to your brake booster - use it to mark your hole locations before you drill. If you're welding the brace, make sure you've got proper ventilation and you're not welding near wiring or plastic trim. If you're using rivet nuts or threaded inserts, make sure they're rated for the load. Don't drill the holes freehand without using the template - you'll drill in the wrong spot and then you've got extra holes in your cowl.
