    Doing a water pump replacement on your K series or S2000 and you're seeing this O-ring on the parts diagram? Part number 19322-PCX-003. This is the OEM O-ring that seals the back of your water passage - that's the cast aluminum housing on the front of your engine where the water pump bolts to. The O-ring sits in a groove on the back of the water passage where it presses against the engine block. When this O-ring gets old and hard from years of heat cycling, you're getting coolant seeping out from behind the water passage. It's not a big dramatic leak usually - just weeping that shows up as crusty dried coolant around the water passage area. Fresh O-ring stops the seepage.

    You Only Need This If You're Pulling the Water Passage Off

    Here's the thing - you don't replace this O-ring during normal water pump jobs. The water pump bolts to the front of the water passage. When you're swapping a water pump, you're unbolting the pump from the water passage, not pulling the water passage off the block. This O-ring's behind the water passage where it mounts to the block. You only disturb it if you're completely removing the water passage from the engine - like if you're doing major engine work, pulling the head, or replacing the water passage itself because it's cracked or corroded. Most people never touch this O-ring. But if you're pulling the water passage off the block for any reason, you need to replace it.
