Hybrid Racing K Swap Shifter Cables - 1990-2006 Acura/Honda NSX
Looking to K Swap your NSX and are unsure what components are needed on the shifter side other than going full sequential trans? The Hybrid Racing K Swap NSX Shifter Cables make this swap a little more accessible. Normal K swap shifter cables for EG, EK, or DC chassis swaps are way too short for the NSX. The transmission's behind the driver instead of in front of the driver and the cable routing's completely different. These cables are longer and designed specifically for NSX K swaps using Hybrid Racing's RSX shifter and RWD transmission bracket. The RWD bracket lets the cables mount to the front of the K series transmission instead of from the rear like in a FWD setup, thus providing the correct engagement and function on a RWD setup. You're getting the correct cable geometry and the correct cable length for a clean install. Solid aluminum rod ends, spherical bearings, stainless steel construction, and permanently lubricated cores give you a tight, direct shift feel with no slop.
Why Cable Length and Geometry Matter
In a FWD K swap like an EG Civic or an Integra, the transmission's in front of the driver and the shifter cables mount to the top of the transmission and exit over the rear of the transmission. The cables are short. In the NSX, the transmission's behind the driver. If you tried to use FWD-length cables, they wouldn't reach. The cables need to exit over the front of the transmission instead of the rear. That's what Hybrid Racing's RWD bracket does. It mounts the cables to the front of the K series transmission so they exit towards the driver. Now the cable angle's correct and the shifter actually works the way it's supposed to. Wrong geometry breaks cables, wears out bearings, and makes shifting inconsistent. Correct geometry means smooth shifts and parts that last.
Spherical Bearings and Stainless Steel Construction
The cables use spherical bearings at the mounting points instead of rubber bushings. Rubber flexes under load and makes the shifter feel sloppy. Spherical bearings don't flex. The push rods are stainless steel. The swivel support tubes are stainless steel instead of plastic. OEM cables use plastic tubes that break under hard shifting. The rod ends and mounting bushings are CNC-machined 6061 aluminum, black anodized, and laser-etched. The cable cores are permanently lubricated so they don't bind or stick. The cables are heat-resistant to 225°F and the max bend radius is 5 inches. Don't route them tighter than that or you'll shorten their life.
What You Get
- Hybrid Racing K swap shifter cable set for NSX (longer length for NSX K swaps)
- Designed for NSX K swaps using Hybrid Racing RWD transmission bracket and RSX shifter
- Compatible with K20A2, K20A3, K20Z1 transmissions
- Solid aluminum rod ends (CNC-machined 6061 aluminum, black anodized, laser-etched)
- Permanently lubricated cable cores
- Spherical bearings (no flex, direct shift feel)
- Stainless steel push rods and swivel support tubes
- Heat-resistant to 225°F, max bend radius 5 inches
Fits This Application
- 1991-2005 Acura NSX, 1990-2006 Honda NSX
- Requires Hybrid Racing RWD transmission bracket (HYB-TBR-01-10)
- Requires Hybrid Racing RSX shifter
- Works with K20A2, K20A3, K20Z1 transmissions
Note: These cables are longer than standard FWD K swap cables (EG/EK/DC) because the NSX transmission is behind the driver instead of in front. Requires Hybrid Racing RWD transmission bracket. Requires Hybrid Racing RSX shifter. Compatible with K20A2, K20A3, K20Z1 transmissions only. Max bend radius 5 inches - tighter routing shortens cable life. Heat-resistant to 225°F.
