Radium Engineering Fuel Pump Hanger - 1993-1997 Honda Del Sol
You're building your Del Sol and you need to replace the stock fuel pump assembly with something that can handle more power or E85. The stock hanger's plastic and it's designed for a single low-flow pump. Radium Engineering makes this billet aluminum hanger to replace the entire stock assembly. It drops right in. No cutting the fuel tank. No modifying sheet metal. You're pulling the stock hanger out and bolting this one in. The fuel pump sits in the factory collector bowl so you're not getting fuel starvation when you're hard on the throttle or low on gas. The hanger's got an 8AN ORB port for the fuel feed and a 6AN ORB port for the return. You're running aftermarket braided fuel lines instead of trying to adapt stock hard lines. Radium makes two versions of this hanger. One fits Walbro GSS342 and AEM pumps. The other fits Walbro 450 LPH pumps and brushless pumps. Pick the one that matches your fuel pump.
Here's Why You're Replacing the Stock Hanger
The stock Del Sol fuel hanger's plastic and it's designed for a stock fuel pump flowing 100-120 LPH. That's fine for a stock car making 130 hp. It's not fine when you're turbocharged or running E85 or making 300+ whp. You need a bigger pump and the stock hanger won't hold a Walbro 450 or an AEM high-flow pump. The stock electrical connections are also weak. They're plastic multi-pin connectors that can't handle the current draw from a high-flow fuel pump. The plastic gets brittle over time and cracks. Radium's hanger is billet aluminum. The electrical connections are stainless steel studs that can handle high current without melting or corroding. The studs are anti-rotation so they don't spin when you're tightening the nuts. The in-tank wiring's insulated with ETFE which is chemically resistant to gasoline, E85, and methanol. The connections are hermetically sealed so you're not getting fuel leaking into the electrical connections.
8AN Feed Port and 6AN Return Port
The fuel feed port's tapped 8AN ORB on the top plate. That's a 3/4"-16 female thread with an O-ring groove. Radium includes a 6AN male fitting pre-installed so you can run 6AN braided fuel line from the hanger to your fuel rail. If you're running a return-style fuel system, the return port's tapped 6AN ORB (9/16"-18 female) and Radium includes a 6AN male fitting for your return line. If you need different fittings (8AN to 8AN adapters, direct-mount regulators, fuel filters), Radium sells those separately. The fittings are machined low enough to clear the fuel pump access cover so you're not grinding clearance into your trunk floor. You can remove the access cover to service the pump without pulling the fuel tank.
Two Versions - Pick the One That Fits Your Pump
Radium makes this hanger in two versions. Version 1 (part number 20-1790) fits Walbro GSS342 (255 LPH) and AEM 50-1000, 50-1200, 50-1220, 50-1230, and 50-1235 pumps. The GSS342's a common upgrade for naturally aspirated builds or mild turbo setups. If you're running a GSS342, you can reuse your stock fuel pump wiring but Radium recommends upgrading it so the pump's getting full voltage. Sock filters are included for the Walbro pump. AEM pumps come with their own sock filters. Note that the AEM 50-1230 and 50-1235 don't have check valves built in so you'll need to add one if you're running a return-style system. Version 2 (part number 20-1792) fits Walbro F90000267, F90000274, F90000285, F90000295, Ti Automotive E5LM brushless, Protec 11928 brushless, Fuelab 49614 brushless, Deatschwerks DW440 brushless, and Deatschwerks DW810 brushless pumps. These are higher-flow pumps for turbo builds or high-horsepower setups. Sock filters are included for the Walbro pumps. Brushless pumps come with their own sock filters. Note that the Walbro F90000295 and Ti Automotive E5LM don't have check valves. If you're running a brushless pump, you'll need to route the extra controller wires through the hanger.
Can Run Dual Pumps with Add-On Kit
If you need dual pumps for a high-horsepower build, Radium sells a dual pump add-on that bolts to this hanger. The add-on holds a second pump. You're running two pumps in parallel for more fuel flow. If you're running brushless pumps, you can't use the dual pump add-on because the brushless controller wires won't fit through the hanger with a second pump installed. Stick with a single high-flow brushless pump or run two conventional pumps with the dual add-on.
