  • RV6 FK8 Clutch Retro Flywheel - 2016+ Civic Si/1.5T

Running a tuned 1.5T Civic Si making 250+ whp and your stock clutch is slipping? The RV6 Retro Flywheel lets you run an FK8 Type R clutch in your 1.5T car. The FK8 clutch's rated for 400+ ft-lbs of torque at the crank, which is way stronger than your stock 1.5T clutch. We've been running this flywheel with a stock FK8 clutch on our tuned Si for two years and it's held without slipping. Your stock 1.5T clutch uses a different bolt pattern and flywheel size than the FK8, so you can't just bolt on a Type R clutch. The RV6 flywheel converts your 1.5T to FK8 clutch fitment. You're getting a flywheel's 42% lighter than your stock flywheel and the ability to use a clutch that is stronger. That's not crazy-light like a 10-pound race flywheel, it's light enough to rev faster without tripping your ECU's misfire detection or making the car hard to drive on the street.

Here's Why Your Stock 1.5T Clutch Slips with a Tune

Your factory 1.5T clutch is designed for stock power, which is around 200-220 ft-lbs of torque at the crank (stock Si or 1.5T). When you add a tune, intake, downpipe, and intercooler, you're making 250-280 ft-lbs of torque. That's 30-40% more torque than stock. Your stock clutch can't clamp down hard enough, so it slips under full throttle in 3rd or 4th gear. You'll feel the RPMs flare when you're accelerating hard and the clutch disc's slipping against the flywheel. The FK8 Type R clutch is designed for 300+ ft-lbs of torque from the factory (the K20C1 makes way more torque than the L15B7). The FK8 clutch holds 400+ ft-lbs, which is plenty for a bolt-on and tuned 1.5T. Even if you're running E85 or a bigger turbo making 300+ whp, the stock FK8 clutch will hold.

42% Lighter Than Stock, But Not Too Light

The RV6 flywheel weighs 42% less than your stock dual-mass flywheel. Your stock flywheel's a dual-mass design (two pieces with springs in between) that weighs around 25-30 pounds. The RV6 flywheel's a single-mass chromoly flywheel that weighs around 14-16 pounds. That's light enough to make your engine rev faster and drop RPM quicker when you lift off the throttle, but it's not so light that it causes problems. RV6 could've made the flywheel lighter (like 10-12 pounds), but super-light flywheels trip your ECU's misfire detection. The ECU monitors engine RPM fluctuations and if the flywheel's too light, the engine RPM fluctuates more than normal and the ECU thinks you've got a misfire. You'll get a check engine light and you won't pass emissions. RV6 designed the flywheel to be as light as possible without triggering misfire codes. Super-light flywheels also make your car way harder to drive on the street. You'll stall constantly because there's no rotational inertia to help you take off smoothly. The RV6 flywheel's light enough for better throttle response but heavy enough to drive like a normal car.

Works with Stock FK8 Clutch or Aftermarket FK8 Clutches

The RV6 flywheel uses the FK8 clutch bolt pattern and pressure plate mounting. We recommend using the Exedy Stage 0 FK8 Clutch with the RV6 Flywheel. For most people with bolt-ons and a tune, this clutch is more than enough.

    Forged Chromoly Construction

The flywheel's made from forged chromoly steel. Chromoly's way stronger than cast iron or mild steel, so the flywheel can be thinner and lighter without sacrificing strength. The flywheel's fully machined and balanced at the factory. When you install it, you don't need to have it balanced. The kit includes a pilot bushing (pre-installed in the flywheel), a pivot bolt spacer (you MUST install this or your clutch won't disengage properly), and eight M12 x 1.0 flywheel bolts. The flywheel bolts are one-time-use stretch bolts, so don't reuse them if you pull the flywheel off.
