Note: When you're installing the new ground cable, clean the ground points on your chassis and engine block with a wire brush. If the ground points are rusty or painted over, the cable won't conduct properly and you'll still have electrical problems. Make sure the ground wires are making good metal-to-metal contact at the mounting points. Tighten the battery terminal clamp until it's snug but don't crank it down so hard that you crack the battery terminal. If your battery terminals are corroded, clean them with a wire brush and some baking soda before you install the new cable. Corroded terminals will cause the same problems as a bad ground cable.
