Hawk Performance HP+ Front Brake Pads - RSX/Civic Si/Fit
Your factory brake pads are fading after a few laps or hard stops? Hawk HP+ front brake pads are designed for autocross, track days, and aggressive street driving. They've got way more bite than your factory pads and they resist fade at higher temps. Your stock pads start fading when they get hot from repeated hard braking. HP+ pads handle higher temps without fading, which means consistent braking lap after lap. The trade-off is they're noisy and they dust like crazy. If you're tracking your RSX, Civic Si, or Fit and you need pads that won't fade, HP+ pads are a solid choice. If you're just daily driving and you're not tracking your car, stick with factory pads or ceramic pads.
Here's What HP+ Pads Are For
HP+ pads are a dual-duty pad designed for street driving and track use. They work when they're cold (unlike full race pads that need heat to work), but they're also designed to handle the heat from repeated hard stops on track. Your factory pads fade when they get hot because the friction material breaks down at high temps. HP+ pads use a different friction compound that resists fade at higher temps. That means you can brake hard lap after lap without your pedal going soft. The downside is they're loud. They squeal when you're braking on the street. They also create a ton of brake dust. Your wheels will be covered in black dust after a few days of driving.
More Bite Than Factory Pads
HP+ pads have more initial bite than your factory pads. That means they grab harder as soon as you touch the brake pedal. More bite is good for track driving because you can brake later and harder into corners. But on the street, the extra bite can feel grabby and abrupt if you're not used to it. You'll need to adjust your braking technique to avoid jerky stops. If you're running HP+ pads on the street, you're going to annoy your passengers with how grabby your brakes are.
Iron/Metal Rotors Only
HP+ pads only work with iron or steel rotors. Don't use them with carbon ceramic rotors or two-piece rotors with aluminum hats. The pad compound is designed for iron rotors and it won't work right on other materials. If you're running stock rotors or aftermarket iron rotors, you're fine. If you've got fancy carbon ceramic rotors, you need different pads.
What You Get
- Hawk Performance HP+ front brake pads (set of 4 pads)
- High-friction compound for track and aggressive street use
- Fade-resistant at high temps
- Works cold or hot (dual-duty street/track pad)
- More initial bite than factory pads
- High dust and high noise (squealing on street)
- Iron/metal rotors only (not compatible with carbon ceramic)
Fits Your Car
- 2002-2006 Acura RSX Base
- 2002-2005 Honda Civic Si EP3
- 2007-2008 Honda Fit (GD chassis)
- 2009-2013 Honda Fit (GE chassis)
Note: HP+ pads are loud and they create a ton of brake dust. If you're just daily driving and you're not tracking your car, you probably don't want these pads. They're overkill for street use and they're annoying to live with because of the noise and dust. If you're tracking your car regularly or you're doing autocross, these pads are worth it for the fade resistance and extra bite. Bed the pads in properly when you install them. Do 6-10 hard stops from 60 mph down to 20 mph with 30-45 seconds of cool-down time between each stop. Don't come to a complete stop or the pads will transfer unevenly and create vibration. After bedding, let the pads cool completely before driving normally. HP+ pads will eat your rotors faster than factory pads. Expect to replace your rotors more often if you're tracking regularly with these pads.
