HKS Billet Oil Filler Cap - Honda/Acura (Red)
You've spent months building your K series or B series engine and the last thing you see when you open the hood is that faded yellow plastic oil cap. It looks like garbage and it doesn't match the rest of your build. HKS makes this billet aluminum oil filler cap to replace that cheap plastic cap. It's CNC machined from Duralumin in Japan with a red anodized finish and a holographic HKS logo on top. The cap threads into the M32x3.5 oil filler neck on your valve cover. It fits K20, K24, B16, B18, B20, H22, F20, F22, F23, D15, D16, and J series engines. If your stock oil cap screws in, this fits. If your stock cap pushes down and twists to lock, this won't work. This is a genuine HKS part made in Japan. There are a ton of fake HKS oil caps on Amazon and eBay. The real one has a holographic logo that shifts when you move it. The fake ones have a flat printed sticker.
Here's Why the Stock Plastic Cap Sucks
Your factory oil cap's injection-molded plastic. Honda uses plastic because it's cheap to manufacture. After ten or fifteen years of heat cycles, the plastic gets brittle. It cracks around the threads or the cap itself warps. The rubber seal inside hardens and doesn't seal properly anymore. Then you've got oil vapor seeping out around the cap and coating your valve cover with oil mist. You wipe it off, it comes back. The HKS billet cap threads in tight and seals properly. The material doesn't degrade from heat. You're installing it once and you're done. It's not going to crack, warp, or leak like plastic does.
Duralumin Billet with Red Anodized Finish
HKS machines this cap from solid Duralumin billet. Duralumin's a high-strength aluminum alloy that's used in aerospace applications. It's harder and more corrosion-resistant than the 6061 aluminum you see on cheap dress-up caps. The red finish isn't paint. It's red alumite anodizing. Anodizing's an electrochemical process that changes the surface of the aluminum. The color's part of the metal, not a coating on top of it. Paint chips and peels from engine bay heat. Anodizing doesn't. The finish stays red and it doesn't fade. The HKS logo on top is holographic. When you tilt the cap, the logo shifts and changes color. That's one way to tell if you're looking at a real HKS cap or a fake one. The fakes use a flat printed sticker that doesn't shift.
How to Install It Correctly
Installation's simple but there's one thing you need to know. The cap has a holographic medallion on top with the HKS logo. That medallion's separate from the threaded body. When you're installing the cap, thread it all the way down onto your valve cover filler neck first. Get it tight. Then rotate the medallion on top so the HKS logo's lined up the way you want it. The medallion spins independently from the threaded body so you can position the logo to face forward or however you want it oriented. Don't try to line up the logo while you're threading the cap down. Thread it down first, then adjust the medallion. That's how you get it positioned correctly.
M32x3.5 Thread Pitch Fits Most Honda and Acura Engines
This cap uses M32x3.5 threads. That's the standard thread pitch Honda uses on most of their engines from the late '80s through the 2010s. It fits K series engines in your RSX, Civic Si, TSX, Accord, and CR-V. It fits B series engines in your Integra, Civic Si, Del Sol VTEC, and CR-V. It fits H22 engines in your Prelude. It fits F series engines in your Accord and older Preludes. It fits D series engines in your Civic and Del Sol. It fits J series V6 engines in your Accord V6, TL, and CL. If you've got a Honda or Acura from that era and the oil cap screws in, this fits. Some newer Honda models use a push-and-twist bayonet-style cap instead of a screw-in cap. Check your current cap before you order. If it screws in, you're good. If it pushes down and twists to lock, this won't fit.
