The factory ECU's programmed for a recirculating BOV. When you switch to an atmospheric BOV like the SSQV4, you're venting metered air that the ECU's already calculated for. That causes the ECU to see a lean condition on throttle lift. You need to retune the car to account for the vented air or you're going to get stuttering and poor throttle response. Get the car to a tuner who knows FK8s. They'll adjust the fuel and ignition maps to work with the SSQV4. Don't skip the tune and expect it to work right.

Tuning is REQUIRED after you install this blow off valve. The factory ECU is programmed for a recirculating valve. Installing an atmospheric BOV without a tune will cause lean conditions and poor drivability. Take your car to a professional tuner who's familiar with FK8 Type Rs and have them adjust the fuel and ignition maps for the SSQV4. Don't skip this step. The SSQV4 vents to atmosphere which means you're releasing metered air that the MAF sensor already measured. Without a tune to compensate, the ECU thinks that air is still going into the motor and you're running lean on throttle lift. This is a direct bolt-on installation but professional tuning is not optional if you want the car to run properly. The SSQV4 will also be louder than the stock recirculation valve.
