The fan speed knob doesn't have a center button because that's how it's designed. These knobs swap straight onto the factory climate control module. Pop the old knobs off, push the new ones on, done. The black knurled finish looks way better than the silver knobs that come in the Type R and it matches the rest of the black interior trim.

The temperature knobs need the center button because that's the recirculation control. You press the button to toggle recirculation on and off. If your old knobs are really stuck on there, use a trim removal tool or wrap a rag around them and pull harder. Don't pry on the climate control module itself or you'll crack the trim panel.
