Make Sure This Is Your Key Fob Style

Honda used three different key fob batteries depending on what style key you've got. This CR1616 fits the all-in-one style keys, the ones where the remote buttons are built into the key itself, some of these keys use a fixed key blade while others had a flip out key. Check the pictures on this listing and make sure your key fob looks like what's shown. Flip out key not shown. If your key fob's a separate keychain remote or it's a smart key, you need a different battery. 

Here's How You Know Your Battery's Dead

Your key fob battery's dying when you've got to press the unlock button multiple times before your car responds. Or you're standing right next to your door and the fob barely works. Or it only works when you hold it up against the door handle. Eventually it stops working completely and you're unlocking your car with the metal key like it's 1985. Swapping the battery takes 30 seconds. Pop the fob open, pull the old battery out, drop the new one in, snap it back together. You're done.

Honda used three different batteries for different key fob styles, so don't just order based on your car year. Look at your actual key fob and make sure it matches the pictures. If your key fob looks different, you need a different battery. To replace the battery, there's usually a small screw on the back of the fob or a slot where you can pry it open with a flathead screwdriver. Pop it open, note which way the battery's sitting, pull the old one out, drop the new one in the same way, and snap it back together. Test it before you close it all the way to make sure it works.
