Honda CR1616 Key Fob Battery - 72148-S0A-000
Your Honda or Acura key fob barely working and you're standing next to your car clicking the unlock button 20 times? Your battery's dead. Honda part number 72148-S0A-000 is the OEM CR1616 battery that goes in the all-in-one style immobilizer keys commonly found on 8th Gen Civic's, 1st/2nd Gen Fit, and 2nd Gen TSX. It's the little coin battery inside your key fob. When it dies, your remote unlock and lock buttons stop working or they only work when you're standing right next to the car.
Make Sure This Is Your Key Fob Style
Honda used three different key fob batteries depending on what style key you've got. This CR1616 fits the all-in-one style keys, the ones where the remote buttons are built into the key itself, some of these keys use a fixed key blade while others had a flip out key. Check the pictures on this listing and make sure your key fob looks like what's shown. Flip out key not shown. If your key fob's a separate keychain remote or it's a smart key, you need a different battery.
Here's How You Know Your Battery's Dead
Your key fob battery's dying when you've got to press the unlock button multiple times before your car responds. Or you're standing right next to your door and the fob barely works. Or it only works when you hold it up against the door handle. Eventually it stops working completely and you're unlocking your car with the metal key like it's 1985. Swapping the battery takes 30 seconds. Pop the fob open, pull the old battery out, drop the new one in, snap it back together. You're done.
OEM Honda Battery, Not Gas Station Garbage
You can grab a CR1616 from the gas station for a buck but those batteries are hit or miss. Sometimes they work for a year, sometimes they're dead in three months. Honda OEM batteries last longer and they're what your key fob came with from the factory. Spend the extra couple bucks and get one that'll actually last.

If your key fob looks different, you need a different battery. To replace the battery, there's usually a small screw on the back of the fob or a slot where you can pry it open with a flathead screwdriver. Pop it open, note which way the battery's sitting, pull the old one out, drop the new one in the same way, and snap it back together. Test it before you close it all the way to make sure it works.
