  • Honda J/K Series Thermostat Housing Gasket - 19305-PNA-003

Replacing your thermostat and you need the housing gasket? Part number 19305-PNA-003. This is the OEM gasket that seals your thermostat housing to the thermostat case. When you're doing a thermostat job, you're unbolting the housing, pulling out the old thermostat, dropping in the new one, and bolting the housing back on. This gasket sits between those two pieces and stops coolant from leaking out. The old gasket's compressed and probably stuck to the housing or the case. Don't reuse it. Fresh gasket means you're not chasing coolant drips after you've filled the system back up.

Here's Why You Always Replace This Gasket

Every time you crack open your thermostat housing, you're crushing this gasket a little more. The gasket material compresses and takes a set. Once you've broken the seal by unbolting the housing, that gasket's done its job. Trying to reuse it's asking for leaks. The gasket's a couple bucks. Just throw a new one on when you're doing your thermostat. It's cheap insurance and it takes literally five seconds to swap it. The alternative's topping off your coolant every week because you've got a slow drip from your thermostat housing that you're too stubborn to fix properly.

Fits Both K Series and J Series Engines

This gasket fits K series 4-cylinder engines and J series V6 engines. Honda used the same thermostat housing design across both engine families. Whether you're working on a Civic with a K20, an Accord with a K24, or a Pilot with a J35, this is the right gasket. If your Honda or Acura's got a 4-cylinder or V6 from the last 20+ years, there's a good chance this gasket fits your thermostat housing.

Don't Skimp on a Two Dollar Gasket

We've seen people try to reuse these gaskets to save two bucks. They button everything up, refill the coolant, and then they're under the car a week later trying to figure out where that drip's coming from. It's the thermostat housing gasket. The one they didn't replace. Don't be that person. When you're buying your thermostat, throw this gasket in your cart. You're already doing the job - do it right the first time.

Note: Replace this gasket every time you open the thermostat housing. Don't try to reuse old gaskets, they won't seal properly. When you're installing the new gasket, make sure both mating surfaces are completely clean. Scrape off any old gasket material that's stuck to the housing or the case. Any chunks of old gasket left behind will cause leaks. The new gasket should sit flat with no wrinkles or tears. Don't use RTV or sealant with this gasket, it's designed to seal on its own. Adding RTV just makes a mess and can actually cause leaks if it squeezes out into the coolant passages. Install the gasket dry on clean surfaces. Bolt the housing down evenly. Start all the bolts finger-tight, then snug them down in a crisscross pattern. Don't overtighten, you'll crush the gasket and cause leaks. Torque to spec if you've got the service manual handy. If you're doing a thermostat replacement, this gasket should be on your parts list right next to the thermostat. They're sold separately but you need both. Don't show up with just a thermostat and no gasket. You'll be making a second trip to the parts store and your car will be torn apart in the driveway waiting on ten dollar gasket.
