Why Your Throttle Body Gasket Fails

The gasket lives between your throttle body and intake manifold. Its only job is to keep that joint airtight. It's rubber or paper composite, and years of heat cycling compress and harden it until it stops sealing. Once it goes, air bypasses your MAF completely - your ECU can't measure it, can't correct for it, and your fueling goes sideways. Installation Notes

Before you install, scrape any old gasket material off both mating surfaces - throttle body and intake manifold. A razor blade works fine. The surfaces need to be clean and flat or your new gasket won't seal any better than the old one. Torque your throttle body bolts in a crisscross pattern to spec. Uneven torque distorts the gasket and you'll have a vacuum leak before you even start the car.
